Proof-of-concept Hardware


Each Pinpoint package contains the Pinpoint IMU and two GPS receivers. The IMU is Enpoint's 3-axis design built with MEMS gyroscopes and accelerometers. The Pinpoint package has external connectors for power, the GPS antennas, and a serial data port. The Pinpoint IMU is intended to be a low-cost production device with components assembled using automated component placement systems. The use of standard board fabrication and component placement tools results in accurate boards so that part alignment can be controlled with good precision. As important, the design relaxes Pinpoint’s requirements for precise calibration, which eliminates the need for sophisticated pre-operation calibration procedures. A Kalman filter operating on a embedded DSP continuously calibrates the system and computes the position, velocity, and attitude motion characterization parameters in real-time.
